While Tennis Ireland’s membership is gender diverse with almost equal male and female participation in the sport, there is less diversity when it comes to other roles such as coaching, officiating and administration.

● to improve gender equality in all areas of the game;
● to ensure tennis is a leading light for all sport both on and off the court.

Supported by Sport Ireland via the Women in Sport Programme, we are delighted to announce the newly created role of National Coordinator for our Women in Tennis Programme.

Tennis Ireland is looking for a talented professional, driven by passion, purpose and pride to implement it’s Gender Diversity Strategy which has a mission to encourage more women to get involved in leadership, governance, coaching and officiating roles as well as growing visibility and active participation in the sport.

Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager the responsibilities of the National Coordinator of the Tennis Ireland Women in Tennis Programme will include:

  • Responsibility for raising awareness, delivery and tracking actions set down in the Gender Diversity Strategy;
  • Support establishment and work of Gender Diversity Steering Group;
  • Conduct research with existing female tennis leaders to understand their experiences in the
    sport;
  • In conjunction with the Director of Development, coordinate

○ delivery of Coach Education and Officiating courses that specifically target women;
○ training of additional female Coach Developers;

  • In conjunction with the Competitions Manager, coordinate the delivery of Tournament Officials education programmes that specifically target women;
  • Coordinate the development of promotional material to encourage women to engage in Coaching, Officiating and Leaderships roles;
  • Develop and coordinate an entry level participation programme for women to engage with and play Tennis;
  • Champion and promote gender equality within the organisation and cultivate an Equal Advantage culture within Tennis;
  • In conjunction with stakeholders, such as the ITF, to develop and project manage the delivery of a Leadership Programme which will support and build the knowledge, confidence and connections among women and empowers them to take on leadership roles within the sport.
  • Other duties as required

Experience Required

  • Third level qualification in a related area.
  • A strong understanding of the structure of sport in Ireland, preferably tennis.
  • Excellent Project Management skills.
  • Ability to operate and thrive in a fast changing and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Experience in strategic planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in utilising social media tools

Additional requirements

  • Full clean driving licence with access to own transport
  • Satisfactory Garda / Police Vetting

Additional Information

  • Remuneration will be dependent on relevant experience.
  • The contract is 15 months in duration based on 37.5 hours per week.
  • Flexibility is required with the successful candidate required to work weekends or out of office hours as necessary.
  • The post is Dublin based with travel as appropriate.
